Chorizo and Potato Frittata

Any recipe that includes chorizo and potato has to be good. I was not disappointed with this recent effort.
Lovely comfort food
Just chorizo, potatoes, onions, fresh sage and eggs.

From the garden

There is not too much happening in the garden at the moment where random flowers are concerned.
This is all I could find

Looks lovely on the new buffet

L'Arte

On the way back from the Library last saturday i decided to drop into a coffee shop not far from where I live, that I have not visited before. It has been on Riding Road for a while but just didn't look that inviting from the road.

It was a delight. Friendly staff, great coffee and a little shady terrace out the back that will be lovely on a winter morning. I asked for one of the mini muffins to go with my coffee.

Beautiful presentation

Gum Nuts

Just right in the kitchen

So pretty
I went to the Farmers Market at the top of Queen Street on Wednesday. One of the flower ladies was selling bunches of Gum leaves with gum nuts. Only $5 for a bunch.

French Coffee Cake

I first made this cake in 1968. I wanted something quick and easy to make on short notice for morning tea for visitors. My boys loved this simple cake.
This plate is 50 years old
I made it again this morning when one of my best long time friends came for morning tea. We were have such a great catch up that morning tea turned to lunch. She finally left about 4.30pm. Such a fun day.

Museum of Brisbane

I did one of my regular visits to the Museum of Brisbane. I do hope that it returns to it's usual space in the City Hall when the renovations are finished.

I love Margaret Olley's paintings and was very happy to see 2 that the Museum owns on display.

I am looking forward to the recreation and exhibition of her workroom at Tweed Heads in the future.

Clever recycling

I saw this at the Barracks Theatre a week or so ago. I love that something as simple as an airline alcohol bottle can be recycled into an art work.
Too clever

Slow Roasted Belly Pork

I have eaten belly pork in many restaurants and as I now know how it should taste etc. I wanted to try to cook it myself. This month's Delicious Magazine had a very good basic recipe.
Just out of the oven
Delicious with mashed potato

Autumn salad
I have never made a salad with radicchio before. Though the radicchio leaves are bitter they go wonderfully with the sweet fatty pork. The crisp pancetta, toasted hazelnuts and the honey in the dressing make this a salad one I will definitely make again.

Lamb and Risonni

This dish has become one of my favourites. It is so easy to prepare, meat and pasta in one dish. It just needs a salad and yoghurt.
Great with roasted tomatoes
Green beans with onions
For Good Friday lunch I also made my favourite green bean dish.

Italian Easter Pie

I found this recipe in last weeks' Brisbane News Magazine. they often have very good recipies. I could tell by the ingredients that is would be good especially as it used a good amount of fresh oregano.
You can see the whole egg in the centre
Looks just like in the magazine

First of the Easter cooking

I had a few things things in mind to cook over this Easter break. I started off with Tomato Relish. I have made this before, but this time I used less sugar. It is much better.
Tomato Relish
I made my favourite 'healthy' vegitarian muffins to have instead of hot cross buns. They are great as Easter gifts along with a jar of the relish.
As a gift
The muffins have cream cheese in the middle and are best served warm with sour cream and tomato relish.
