Baby Cat - Maxi

Maxi
This is a rare photo of maxi looking at the camera. He doesn't like the flash and closes his eyes when I approach with the camera. This was taken during a weekend morning ritual where Maxi sits on the paper exactly where you want to read. I have to constantly move his body/tail/leg so that I can move to the next paragraph/column/page.
He is now 13 years old and still looks like a baby.

French Onion Soup

Best recipe
I bought this book for the story and the pictures. Then I noticed that the recipes read very well for the traditional food. This is the second recipe that I have tried from this book, is the best Onion Soup that I have ever made.

I have been making this soup ( using various recipes) since the 70's.

Outdoor table centre piece

Prior to Easter this year I purchased some lobelia plants and a 'decorator' chicken for the Easter table centre piece.
Unfortunately the lobelia did not take root fast enough and I had to abandon the project.
Now it is mid June and it looks lovely.
Very pretty

He is cosy here

Today's walk

This morning I went for a walk along the Bulimba foreshore with Carol and 'Val'. I knew of this area but have never walked here before. I am constantly amazed by the lovely spots around my suburb that are just so peaceful and a delight to visit.
The view across to Teneriffe

There is sand in parts below the rock wall
Great access to the water for dogs

Coffee after in Oxford Street

Pea and Ham soup

This is the first of the soups for winter 2012. I make big pots and freeze them for evening meals. I use a smoked ham hock for this and green split peas. Mark gave me the idea of adding fresh peas at the end. This gives a wonderful burst of fresh flavour.
Perfect on a cold night
There will be more flavours to follow.

Zucchini Frittata

Just out of the oven
I used spinach and cherry tomatoes from the garden, a bag of Zucchini's on special for $2, some eggs left over cream, an onion, and to top it off a piece of herb cheese (grated over the top) I hid in the freezer a month ago so I couldn't eat it all in one day.
Just lovely with my home made tomato relish.

Oxford Street Paddington Sydney

Date scone with berry flavoured butter
Last weekend in Sydney I trekked to Oxford St from Kings Cross in the rain. On previous visits to Sydney I found great shops and a great vibe here. This scone was the most exciting thing about the visit. The whole place is sad with heaps of empty shops.
I saw a sign for a coffee shop pointing down an alley. What a cute place. Lovely friendly staff and great coffee and fresh hot scones. "Not Just coffee'.

This Morning's Breakfast

Carol and I walked to Mowbray Park this morning and back. I made a thermos of coffee and we bought pastries on the way.
So peaceful
It was so quiet and serene, we couldn't even hear the peak hour traffic on the road.
